Ryan Shotton rescued a point for Derby County as they battled out a feisty 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

DAVID SAYS: It’s a shame Brian Clough’s personality and vigour is not around anymore but to achieve what he did with both Forest and Derby secures his legendary status and perhaps both could get promoted this season. Derby haven’t started as well as we would have thought but Forest, because of their great recruitment, bringing in the likes of Britt Assombalonga and Michail Antonio, are making the early running and Stuart Pearce, who is iconic at that club, has galvanised and knitted the local team together. Brentford are really getting into the groove in the Championship, too, and with Mark Warburton in charge they are playing some really good, attractive football and showing no fear. The group looks happy with the manager and the players are thirsty to get better.

More failure for Fulham

Two Glenn Murray headers on his debut helped give Reading a 3-0 victory over Fulham at the Madejski Stadium.

DAVID SAYS: The table doesn’t make good reading for Fulham and the misery was compounded at the weekend with the loss at Reading and Matt Smith’s sending off on debut. I’m sure things will turn around but it’s whether there is the patience from the fans and the people that make the decisions about who is in charge at the club. Felix Magath has an historical CV and is known as a firefighter who comes in when clubs aren’t doing well, but as he is the man who isn’t doing well, is he the man to turn it around? We just don’t know.

MK Dons and their manager’s future

A look back at all the action from Saturday's League One games.

DAVID SAYS: The fact MK Dons had five different scorers at Barnsley, a very tough place to go, shows the quality throughout the team but I think Benik Afobe is going to be a great acquisition for them. He was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season and I was very impressed by his power and general play but stadium:mk is a great place for him to develop his football. Karl Robinson has got a group that really wants to play football but can also be devastating in front of goal, too, so at some point he will want to test himself at a higher level, whether that’s with MK Dons or someone else, but from an MK Dons point of view they will want him to stick around.

Burton and Wycombe bubbling along nicely

A look back at all the action from Saturday's League Two games.

DAVID SAYS: Burton are flying and have got some very good players, like Lucas Akins and Stuart Beavon, playing out of their skin, so I’m surprised manager Gary Rowett hasn’t been touted about for the bigger jobs. He has really got his team together and it’s no fluke they are winning games and top of the table because they are playing very good football. Gary won’t want his players to get carried away at this early stage of the season but if he avoids the play-off scenario and gets promoted this year I think he will be glad! Gareth Ainsworth is doing a great job at fourth-placed Wycombe, too and is a very passionate but at the same time shrewd tactical and technical manager.
