Clough targeting fifth place

Sheffield United may have guaranteed a play-off place already but boss Nigel Clough is determined to finish fifth.

The Blades host sixth-placed Chesterfield on Sunday knowing avoiding defeat will ensure they stay fifth and face a two-legged tie with Swindon, rather then MK Dons or Preston, in the semi-finals. "Ideally we would have wanted to wrap fifth place up and know we are playing Swindon," Clough told the club website. "There isn't much in it come the play-offs but the league table suggests that whoever comes third, be it Preston or MK Dons, are a better team than the other three. "So our aim is coming as high as possible and that means we need another positive result against Chesterfield."
