Garratt nearing Crewe return

Crewe goalkeeper Ben Garratt has made a successful return to training and could be back in the squad against Coventry at the weekend.

Garratt, who will celebrate his 21st birthday on Saturday, has been out of first-team action since suffering a fracture in his leg at Barnsley in February. "Ben has been back in training this week with Fred (Barber, goalkeeping coach) and he will train with the group again on Thursday," Alex boss Steve Davis told the club's official website. "He seems fine and if he gets through the week then he could be involved this weekend at Coventry. "Ben could be in the squad and on the bench as back-up if needed. It would be better to have Ben there if needed than having to put an outfield player in goal if there is an injury or a red card."
