Crawley have completed the signing of former Manchester United youngster John Cofie on a one-month contract.

The 22-year-old striker arrives as a free agent having spent the first half of this season with Norwegian side Molde. Cofie was signed by United from Burnley at the age of 14 but did not make a first-team appearance at Old Trafford. The Ghanaian had loan spells with Royal Antwerp and Sheffield United before joining Barnsley last season. Town manager Dean Saunders said: "John was a free agent and he's a player I have been aware of for some time. He's got a lot of natural talent and he's been with us for a few days now and has fitted in well. "This is a new challenge for him back in England. I'm excited to be working with him and I'm convinced he can make an impression at this level. He gives us another option up front at a crucial stage of the season." Cofie could make his Crawley debut against Gillingham on Saturday.
