Grayson stays grounded

Simon Grayson insists Preston will not get carried away after moving into the automatic promotion places with a 2-2 draw with Doncaster.

Jermaine Beckford equalised for North End deep into stoppage time and, coupled with MK Dons' defeat at home to Chesterfield, it helped the Deepdale outfit up to second in the table. "It's a valuable point," said Grayson, whose side travel to the Dons on Saturday. "We couldn't affect what was happening at other grounds, we could only try and get something out of tonight. "But obviously it's a double bonus for us when you see one or two of the other results go in our favour, so we will take that all day long but there are a lot of games to go to try and secure that second place. "We've got to go to MK Dons on Saturday and be confident, which we will be. We will be respectful of the players they've got but we want to go there and win three points. We will just approach it like we have every game recently. "We would have loved to have won the game tonight, but these were difficult conditions. However, we kept going, showed a lot of desire and obviously we're very relieved to score late on." The hosts took the lead after 13 minutes through Daniel Johnson, who has now scored in each of the last four games. However, the drama came in the final stages after Rovers equalised on 81 minutes through Harry Forrester following good work from James Coppinger. The visitors then stunned Deepdale just three minutes later through Curtis Main, who got on the end of a right-wing cross to give Doncaster the lead. But it was not enough as Beckford equalised in stoppage time, striking at the far post from six yards after a free-kick to snatch a point. "We're really disappointed," said Doncaster boss Paul Dickov. "I thought even in the first half we were the better team. Even though they might have had the ball on many occasions they didn't cause us any trouble. "I sat them down at half-time and I told them to relax a little bit because the first 15 minutes we passed it well, but they scored and we seemed to get the stuffing knocked out of us a bit too easyily. We just told them to go out and believe and I thought they were magnificent in the second half. "We built pressure because they passed it, they moved it and they made the right decisions at the right times. Preston may have gone second in the league tonight, but we've come here and been by far the better team and with 12 games to go that gives us a lot of confidence."
