Robertson 'ecstatic' after win

Caretaker boss Dave Robertson praised Peterborough after they came from behind to win 2-1 at promotion-chasing Sheffield United.

Matt Done had put the hosts in front midway through the second half before Jack Payne and Conor Washington struck late on to complete an incredible turnaround. Robertson said: "I'm ecstatic. The lads dug deep. We weathered the storm against a strong Sheffield United team in the first 15 minutes and I thought we finished the first half strongly. "We got the lads together and told them, 'This game's there for the taking'. In the second half, young Rico (Ricardo Santos) knew he made a mistake for the goal. He knew he should have passed it back but the ball was nicked off him and we went one-nil down. "He knew he'd made a mistake and the lads got behind each other. We had a right go at it and we went to a 3-4-3. We got the goal and we wanted to go on and win it. "It was a Roy of the Rovers moment for Conor when he went through and scored the winner. "The bottom line was that we believed we could win this. I said in my team-talk that no-one expects us to come to Sheffield United and win, except for us. That belief shone through and I'm over the moon for the players." Done scored an opportunist goal having dispossessed Santos. After seeing his shot parried by Alnwick, he reacted smartly to head the rebound over the keeper and into the far corner of the net. Peterborough skipper Payne went close with a long-range drive which hit the outside of Iain Turner's right-hand post before he levelled with a 20-yard effort in the 88th minute. Substitute Washington then struck the 90th-minute winner, bursting into the area before smashing the ball past Turner. Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough was left sick by the two late strikes. He said: "It's a disappointment. We've benefited from so many late goals this season and we're on the other end of it. "We should see the game out better than we did. To be one-nil up at home and then lose the game so late on shouldn't happen. "We missed a chance. We've generally closed games out well this season, but they were two poor goals from our point of view, especially the winning goal. I think there were three defenders who had a chance to clear the ball. "They were putting a little bit of pressure on us, but you've got to get out and block the shots. They key to it is that you don't lose the game. "With 13 games to go, we've still got a chance (of getting promotion). We're incredibly disappointed, but you've got to get up and ready for the game against Fleetwood on Saturday. We want to play better than we did. "The last few weeks have taken their toll. I think it just caught up with us a little bit."
