Fleetwood have appointed former Bolton defender Gretar Steinsson as their new technical director.
The ex-Iceland international, 33, links up with the Sky Bet League One club in a role created specifically for him as they look to continue to push forward in their maiden campaign in the third tier. Steinsson previously worked for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar and returns to England where he spent four years playing for Wanderers. "We met Gretar on a number of occasions," chairman Andy Pilley told the club's official website. "We were extremely interested to listen to his ideas and the knowledge and experience he has obtained during his whole career. "It is key for the club's future that we continue to build a strong infrastructure. "Gretar, who already has a home on the Fylde Coast, will bring a great level of professionalism and shares the same ambitions and aspirations."
