Nouble to ignore protests

Frank Nouble insists Coventry's players will ignore any off-field unrest to focus on staying out of relegation danger.

Just 7,098 saw the Sky Blues' 3-0 defeat to Swindon on Monday, the lowest crowd since they returned to the Ricoh Arena in September. Some called for the removal of owners Sisu during the game, but Nouble remains unaffected by the protests. "I heard that as a player but you just think they are shouting abuse at the team so you want to do better," he said. "I don't listen to anything off the field, I just want to do well on the pitch. "You can blame anyone for the (low) crowd, we just have to go out there and win. If we win I'm sure more people would come and watch us." Nouble conceded a first-half penalty on Monday, which Andy Williams scored to add to his early opener. Jonathon Obika wrapped up Swindon's win late on with the Sky Blues falling to their fifth defeat of the season at the Ricoh. It left them four points above the League One relegation zone in 18th place. Coventry head to fellow strugglers Gillingham on Saturday and then bottom club Yeovil next week, and Nouble knows the games are a perfect chance to climb away from trouble. "It's four or five points that way," said the striker, who has joined until the end of the season after leaving Ipswich. "We have two big games, win those two and you are talking about somewhere else. It's too early to talk about where you are looking towards, you just have to win the games. "It's about being consistent. We did well at Walsall (a 2-0 win) and drew at home against Chesterfield and came in against Swindon full of confidence and didn't get the result. "We have to find a way of staying in the game as long as possible."
