Fleetwood boost Lucketti

Image: Chris Lucketti: Full of praise for Fleetwood

Chris Lucketti praised Fleetwood after they produced their 'most complete performance of the season' to beat Rochdale 2-0.

It was the Cod Army's first win in six games and assistant boss Lucketti called for more of the same after first-half goals from Mark Roberts and Josh Morris sank Dale. "We were quite dominant in possession and it was one of our most complete performances of the season," said Lucketti. "The players were magnificent, they all contributed and I felt it was worthy three points in the end. "Taking chances has been a problem. We have been creating openings but not taking them and Mark Roberts led the way. "We were 2-0 up before half time and that gave us a little bit of breathing space, which is something we've probably been missing at times lately. "It's been a great 2014 and we'll only get better as this season goes on. We're disappointed not to have a few more points on the board and we'll be looking to improve on that in 2015." Fleetwood were quick to exert control and took the lead in the 17th minute when Mark Roberts climbed highest at the back post to head in Stephen Dobbie's free kick. Roberts turned provider in the 38th minute when his low delivery from the right found Morris, who slid a neat finish wide of Dale stopper Josh Lillis. Maxwell saved well to prevent Ian Henderson reducing the deficit just before the break and in the 52nd minute Dale had a great opportunity when Conor McLaughlin was penalised for a foul on Oli Lancashire and referee Robert Madley awarded a penalty. However, Henderson smashed his spot kick against the underside of the crossbar and Fleetwood scrambled the rebound clear. Rochdale boss Keith Hill said his side did not give a true reflection of their ability as nervousness crept into their play. "We started well and had the first real opportunity, and then all of a sudden there seemed to be this air of negativity that swelled in the stadium and it got into the players and they became reckless and nervous in their decision making," he said. "We were two down as a result of shooting ourselves in the foot. I didn't expect us to be nervous or see any anxiety in the players but that's what we got in the first half. "The players don't need to apologise or be apologetic in the way that they've performed after a bad result. I am expecting more than that because performances will reflect results and this performance was nowhere near our true identity."
