Dalla Valle on Davis' radar

Crewe boss Steve Davis is optimistic over the possibility of re-signing forward Lauri Dalla Valle.

The 23-year-old Finn averaged a goal every two games during a two-month loan spell with the Alex in the 2012-13 season and could be set to rejoin the club having returned on a trial basis. Dalla Valle, who spent time in Norway and Belgium after failing to make the grade at Liverpool and Fulham, scored twice for the Railwaymen's development squad on Monday to leave a watching Davis impressed. "I travelled over to Coventry to watch Lauri in action and he was fine," the Crewe boss told the club's official website. "He showed that he was in decent shape and he ran around for us. He is a goal scorer. Although his contribution was minimal in the game in terms of touches, he has a real knack of being in the right place at the right time. "He grabbed the ball to take the penalty and his second goal was a terrific glancing header. He showed what he can do inside the box and we will have a conversation with him and see what he wants to do. "A goal scorer is hard to find and he is a first-class professional. We enjoy working with him and hopefully we can sort something out because he will offer competition for places. He would be another goal threat for us. "We are hopeful that we can sort something out because Lauri enjoyed it here. He rang us to see if he could come over and he knows that we would work with him to improve him and give him a chance to get his career going again."
