Grayson hails Preston display

Manager Simon Grayson praised his Preston team for a thoroughly professional performance as they ran out 2-0 winners away at Yeovil.

Paul Huntington's fifth-minute header on his return to his former club and Paul Gallagher's calm late finish gave Preston their second straight win in accomplished fashion. They were never under too much threat from their hosts, who controversially had Ryan Inniss sent off just after the hour mark for a challenge on Kyel Reid. The win keeps Preston third, just a point away from an automatic promotion spot, while Yeovil drop to second bottom and sit two points away from safety. Grayson admitted that there was room for improvement in his Preston side, who struggled to create much in the way of chances after Inniss' dismissal, until Kevin Davies found Gallagher in the final minute to slot home past Artur Krysiak. But he left Huish Park happy with the way his side dispatched a Yeovil team who he feels are not befitting of their lowly league position. Grayson said: "I can't fault the performance of my players. They've come here, to a potentially tricky ground, and kept a clean sheet and won the game, so it's a thoroughly professional performance and I'm delighted with their effort. "Yeovil's position in the league doesn't justify how well they've played recently so we knew we had to be at it from the start and it proved because it was another tough game. "To get the early goal and get it from a set piece was a huge bonus as we'd worked on them beforehand and with the physical presence they have at the back it was perhaps a bit of a surprise to get the goal that way. "The second half could've been better, especially after the red card where we weren't as positive as we perhaps should've been, but to get the goal in the last minute was nice to see as it saw the game off and rounded off what I felt was a good team display." Yeovil's wait for a league win at home has now been extended to five matches, something which manager Gary Johnson believes is down to the relative inexperience of his squad. The Glovers boss called for his players to learn from their mistakes, but refused to comment on Inniss' sending off, instead preferring to view footage of the challenge before making his feelings public. Johnson said: "The lads are inexperienced and for whatever reason at the moment they aren't creating their best football at home. "We're seeing it in fits and bursts but they aren't producing it over 90 minutes, and when you have teams like Preston who have plenty of experience in terms of number of league games they are professional and smart enough to hit you at the right moments and get the job done. "Teams like that are able to stop your flow and slow the game up, and Preston did that unbelievably."
