Maddison signs Coventry deal

Highly-rated Coventry midfielder James Maddison has signed his first professional contact with the club until June 2018.

The 18-year-old put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal after progressing through the Sky Blues' academy since the age of seven. Manager Steven Pressley heaped praised on his new signing, labelling him as a player who has "an extremely bright future". "I've been extremely impressed with James' attitude and ability which is why we were so keen to secure a long-term deal for him," Pressley told the official club website. "His willingness to learn and do extra to improve was a crucial reason in offering him his first professional deal. We're excited by this signing and we believe James can have an extremely bright future at this club." Maddison added: "I'm delighted, this is what I've worked hard towards. Hopefully I can get a run in the team soon and help the team as best as I can."
