Rochdale teenager Johny Diba's dream has come true after the goalkeeper signed his first professional contract.

The 17-year-old will stay with the club until the summer of 2017 after putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal. Dale have the option of a further year. "It's unbelievable," Diba said on the club's official Twitter account. "I remember coming to watch Rochdale as a kid & dreaming of playing with the first team." Diba, 17 last month, joined the club's youth system aged 11 and made the step up to Keith Hill's first-team squad this summer. He is currently back-up to first choice Josh Lillis and made his only senior appearance as a second-half substitute in the league defeat at Chesterfield in August.
