A host of clubs are weighing up a move for former Coventry City captain Carl Baker, Sky Sports understands.

Baker is a free agent after cancelling his contract at Coventry by mutual consent earlier this month.

The attacking midfielder is one of the best free agents on the market after impressing during his four-year stint at Coventry.

Baker scored 10 goals last season and was handed the captain's armband as he helped the club secure their Sky Bet League 1 status despite being handed a 10-point deduction for going to the brink of liquidation.

The former Stockport man scored 28 goals in 182 appearances for Coventry and was named the club's Player of the Season in 2013.

Baker's availability has alerted a number of clubs with the likes of Blackpool, Barnsley, MK Dons and Portsmouth all showing an interest in the player.

Baker is now weighing up his options as he assesses his next move.
