Alexander predicts goal rush

Graham Alexander insists the goals will come for Fleetwood after his team did everything but score in a 0-0 draw with Barnsley.

Both teams hit the woodwork as the sides played out a 0-0 League One draw at Highbury. The home side dominated before the break but could not take any one of a dozen good chances. In the second half Dale Jennings was allowed space on the edge of the box to shoot but smashed it onto the angle while Josh Morris also rattled the woodwork. And Town boss Alexander is hopeful his side's efforts will soon be rewarded, highlighting an otherwise excellent display. He said: "I though first half we were exceptional, we played so well and dominated. But you've got to score when you're on top. "You've got to take at least one opportunity and we didn't. "Then second half they pressed us a little more, got back into the game, had a spell when they got us on the back foot but we came strong and created opportunities. "We just needed one to go in. It will come, I'm sure." But Alexander insisted facing the likes of Barnsley made Town's journey from non-league worthwhile. "Nights like this are what all the work that's been put in, before any of us were here, is all about," he added. "And we played well. It shows how far this club has come but we want to go further because we're ambitious people." Tykes boss Danny Wilson insisted his side could have snatched it. "As games go it was a very entertaining 0-0, there were chances galore, more in the first half for them, more in the second half for us. "It's a surprise it did end that way, maybe the finishing from both sides could be improved a bit. "Personally I think first half we struggled to get to grips with our formation rather than their formation, more than anything. "It caused us problems and we had to change it around slightly. "It worked for us and suddenly we had our foot on the gas. "We created chances we just didn't take them. We could have won it, we possibly should have won it. But they could say the same."
