Plenty of fight left in Jackson

Shrewsbury boss Mike Jackson insists he will not give up on survival after a 3-1 home defeat to Crewe left them in deep trouble.

Crewe made surprisingly light work of sealing a third successive away win which lifted them out of the bottom four. But while Crew boss Steve Davis cut a relieved figure, disappointed Jackson knows his team have it all to do as they sit five points adrift of safety with three games to play. Crewe forged a 38th-minute lead through Mathias Pogba's header and surged further clear after the break courtesy of fine goals from Uche Ikpeazu and the impressive Anthony Grant. Substitute Tom Bradshaw pulled a stoppage-time goal back for Shrewsbury but this was most certainly Crewe's day. Jackson said his team must win all three of their remaining games, starting with Monday's trip to Preston, to have any chance of beating the drop. "We'll go to Preston and you just never know," Jackson said. "Something could just spark us, something could just change that makes a difference. We'll keep going definitely." But he admitted: "We've had a great opportunity with the teams that have lost so that's even more of a kick." Jackson added the manner of the defeat in a game which mattered so much was hard to accept. "I feel sorry for everyone involved at the club to be honest, especially the fans who stuck with us," he said. "There was no turning on the players which was a credit to them. "Obviously they've got to sit there and watch their team put in a performance like that, especially after the first goal went in."
