Latics response pleases Johnson

Oldham boss Lee Johnson was happy to see his side respond to a midweek defeat against MK Dons as they claimed a 2-2 draw at Tranmere.

James Wesolowski opened the scoring for the visitors only for veteran Jason Koumas' deflected effort to pull Rovers level. And when Liam Ridehalgh put into his own net to nudge Oldham back in front, Ryan Lowe equalised with his 18th goal of the season to earn the hosts a share of the spoils. Johnson said: "It just wasn't good enough in midweek against MK Dons, but we've moved on already and I think we've sent our fans home happy. "We just need more of these kind of performances as we head towards the end of the season. "It's been a bit up and down, but overall these players have always given me 100 per cent and I can't ask for any more than that. "I thought we played some really good stuff at times. We were a real threat going forward and because of that I'm disappointed not to have gone on and won the game. "I don't normally like using the word unlucky, but I certainly felt we should have had a penalty in the first half for the push on Danny Philliskirk. "That's by-the-by, though, you don't always get them and rather than looking back at that kind of thing, I'm happy to credit my players for their application."
