Sky Sports understands that Preston North End have agreed a new long-term contract with exciting prospect Josh Brownhill.
Talks are believed to have been opened at the end of January, and have now produced a positive outcome.
The 18-year-old midfielder - who spent time in the academy system at Manchester United before linking up with the Lilywhites - only made his first-team bow in October.
He has, however, impressed at senior level, netting three times in 12 appearances.
Brownhill is now considered to be among the finest young players in Sky Bet League One and is being tipped to have a bright career ahead of him.
He is already reported to be attracting interest from the Premier League, but will resist the urge to climb the ladder too quickly.
The talented teenager believes his development will be best served at Deepdale and is prepared to remain with his current employers for the foreseeable future.
