Coventry have confirmed that Rory Donnelly has returned to parent club Swansea for "personal reasons".
The 21-year-old striker was due to remain with the Sky Blues until the end of the campaign after joining on Friday.
But off-field events have seen Donnelly return to Wales before being able to make an appearance for Coventry.
A Swansea spokesman said in a statement released on Coventry's website: "Rory has returned to the club for personal reasons.
"We are grateful to Coventry City for their understanding and professional handling of a matter that was out of their control and we thank them for their co-operation."
Donnelly made his Swans debut earlier this season in the second-leg defeat to Petrolul Ploiesti in the Europa League.
