Bradford manager Phil Parkinson is hoping to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Matty Dolan on loan next week.
The club's bid to complete a permanent deal for the 20-year-old on transfer deadline day was thwarted, but the emergency loan window reopens next week and Parkinson is keen to land his man.
"Matty will still hopefully be joining us," said Parkinson.
"The deal had virtually been agreed on Friday, but unfortunately both clubs couldn't come to an agreement over a sell-on fee.
"This delayed the process and meant the paperwork couldn't be done in time.
"It is frustrating because I didn't want him to be a loan player, I wanted him to be a permanent signing because you can only have a certain number of loans in a matchday 16.
"That does affect things, but we can still take him on loan next week."
Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Arron Jameson, Doncaster winger Kyle Bennett, Middlesbrough winger Adam Reach and Huddersfield midfielder Chris Atkinson all joined Bradford on loan in January, while striker Aaron McLean joined from Hull on a permanent basis.
