Rotherham United have signed defender Miles Addison on loan from Championship outfit Bournemouth .
The 24-year-old centre-half, who can also play in midfield, will stay at New York until the end of the season and the deal could be extended for a play-off campaign should the Millers finish in the top six of League One.
Boss Steve Evans said: "Miles is a young man we tried to sign back in the summer.
"Bournemouth rejected it at that time and I've monitored his progress, having watched him in a number of reserve games where he's done well but not been able to break in there.
"He can play centre-back, centre midfield and it was only two years ago that this young man was tipped to make the very top of the game.
"Between now and the summer we need to refocus him and I'm pleased he's the first name that's joined us this window."
Addison, whose career began at Derby, has not played a first-team game since November 2012 following a long-standing foot injury but could make his debut against Crewe on Saturday.
Evans will hope to continue his recruitment drive after the departure of David Worrall, Matt Tubbs, Pablo Mills and Michael Tidser on Friday, with a further three players extending their loan spells at other clubs.
