Jermaine Grandison has re-signed for Shrewsbury having rejected a new deal at the end of last season.
The defender, 22, made 33 appearances for Town last term before struggling with a hip injury over the second half of the campaign.
Out of contract in the summer, he was offered fresh terms by boss Graham Turner but opted to turn it down.
Grandison, formerly of Coventry, has been without a club ever since but Town have been obliged under Football League rules to ensure he is fully fit following his hip operation.
He has therefore been training with the League One club and played 45 minutes for Town's reserves against Port Vale on Tuesday afternoon, which has led to a deal being struck over a new contract at the Greenhous Meadow.
