Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore claimed Preston got lucky in the 1-1 draw at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors went ahead after 55 minutes when Chris Atkinson notched his second league goal of the season, but substitute Joe Garner's header in stoppage time salvaged a point for promotion-chasing North End.
"They've given everything and that's all we ask of them every week," said Moore. "I think they (Preston) just got lucky, they've just thrown caution to the wind and got a lot of bodies in there.
"The cross came in too easily and one of our centre-halves was flat-footed and the lad has stuck it in the back of the net which is soul-destroying for us. We can build on that result and at least we're out of the bottom four.
"I can't fault the players, I thought they were excellent, I thought we deserved to win the game and we should have won it.
"The shape was good, we knew we'd give them problems out wide and I thought Abdulai (Bell-Baggie) was fantastic and that's we want from him because he can be a match-winner.
"Just one undisciplined moment cost us but I can't have a go at the players."
