Jones makes a welcome return

Port Vale defender Daniel Jones has made his return from injury with a run-out for the reserves.

Jones has missed Vale's last five matches with a groin strain but played the full 90 minutes against Morecambe on Wednesday - the left-back's first taste of action since suffering the injury in the home league defeat to Wolves on August 31. However, the 26-year-old could not prevent the Valiants from slipping to a 4-0 defeat. Fellow senior players Richard Duffy, Joe Davis, Ryan Lloyd, Kaid Mohamed, Chris Shuker and Rob Taylor also featured in the game. Jones could now come back into the first-team reckoning when Vale host Bristol City in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.
