Brentford have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of defender Javi Venta so he can return home to his native Spain.
The 37-year-old former Villarreal defender penned a one-year deal at Griffin Park this summer but has only made one substitute's appearance in League One.
Venta was keen to return to his family in Iberia and the Bees have granted him that wish.
"Javi is a fantastic professional and I have huge respect for him, as both his manager and as a man, that he has put his family first in this way," boss Uwe Rosler told Brentford's official website.
"Everyone can see why Javi has played at the level he has; he is an ultra-professional and I appreciate the time which he spent here."
Sporting director Mark Warburton added: "Javi has requested to be allowed to return to Spain for purely personal reasons.
"He has family issues which were difficult to resolve in London in the immediate future so we have allowed him to return to his homeland.
"Javi was very complimentary about Brentford in his time here and it was a pleasure dealing with someone who is clearly destined to have a future career in coaching or management."
