The release of the fixtures has whetted the appetite of Carlisle boss Greg Abbott ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

And Abbott hopes having three of the first four games of the season at home will give the Cumbrians a chance to build some momentum. Carlisle host Leyton Orient on the opening day of the League One calendar on August 3 before a Capital One Cup tie against Blackburn at Brunton Park three days later. The first away trip of the season is to newly-promoted Bradford on August 10 and Abbott's men are back at home the following weekend against Coventry. August ends with back-to-back away matches at Colchester and Brentford. After taking in the fixtures, Abbott told the club's official website: "It's a great way for us to kick the season off. We now have two home games in quick succession and that gives us a chance to build up a bit of momentum. "The lads are back in work next Wednesday and the focus from day one will be on what we have to do once the season kicks off in August. "There's always a huge amount of interest when the fixture list comes out but the fact of the matter is that we have to play 46 league games. Our aim is to be consistent and to make sure we pick up the results we need to really push things on. "Having said that, you can look at back-to-back home games against Port Vale and Sheffield United in September, Preston on Boxing Day and the trip to Wolves on the final day of the season and you can't help but start to look forward to it all. "This is when minds really start to focus in and I think we all just want to get on with it now."
