O's boss celebrates in style

Russell Slade found the perfect way to celebrate his League One manager of the month award as Leyton Orient secured 2-0 win over MK Dons.

Goals late in the game from Gary Sawyer and Kevin Lisbie kept the O's hopes of an extended season alive and Slade heaped praise on his team . "I'm really proud of each and every one of them," he said. "They stuck to their task, we played with good energy, we passed the ball well and we had to be patient to wait for the opening goal and when it did it came from an unusual source." The O's boss was referring to the strike by full-back Sawyer, who notched his first goal for the club when he latched on to a pass in the 81st minute and struck a sweetly-hit 20-yard volley low into the corner of the net. The visitors pushed forward in search of the leveller that would have helped their own ambitions of reaching the play-offs, but they left themselves exposed at the back before Lisbie's 16th goal of the season on the stroke of 90 minutes put the issue beyond all doubt. "I'm absolutely delighted for Gary that he's managed to open his account for us and it was an unstoppable effort," Slade added. "The link-up between Dean Cox and Kevin Lisbie for the second goal was superb and I'd like to mention substitute Lee Cook, who put in some delicious crosses to cause MK Dons problems. "I was delighted also with the clean sheet and thought that Romain Vincelot was awesome at the back, him and Clarkey (Nathan Clarke) snuffed everything out by and large and played their part in giving us our 13th win at home." On his side's play-offs chances, Slade added: "If we can possibly take it to the last game of the season, that would be fantastic. "We have Coventry away next week and haven't done too well on our travels in recent away games and we need to lift our performance away from home, but I'm sure we can galvanise ourselves for one more away game."
