Caretaker player-manager Mark Roberts felt Stevenage deserved their point from a 1-1 draw at Crawley on Friday.
Stevenage had to play for 63 minutes with 10 men to earn a point after the sending-off of defender Miguel Comminges.
Roberts headed his side in front five minutes before the break but midfielder Matt Sparrow levelled 10 minutes after the interval with a low finish following a pass from Paul Hayes.
Roberts said: "We have big characters in the squad and I was impressed by the leadership qualities that everybody showed. We had 11 leaders who gave 125 per cent. It was a lionhearted performance.
"The referee had no choice but to send him off (Comminges). It was two bookable offences and if it had been a Crawley player we would have expected a red card.
"But we reacted superbly and it was an incredible effort all over the pitch. We had some reorganising to do and it worked. We got the goal and it gave us something to cling onto."
