Wabara could extend Latics stay

Manchester City assistant boss David Platt has refused to rule out the prospect of Reece Wabara returning to Oldham on loan.

The Latics secured an extension to Wabara's stay at Boundary Park to take in Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool and he did not disappoint, heading the vital third goal to crown an excellent individual display as Paul Dickov's men held out for a famous 3-2 triumph. The England Under-20 defender has made 29 appearances for the League One outfit this season and Platt is impressed with his progress. He said: "His loan had finished and they asked to extend it so he could play the game, so to get the winning goal is terrific. "Reece needed to play matches at a higher level than reserve games, he's taken his opportunity and done very well. "We'll have to see what happens."
