Manager Ronnie Moore has been rewarded for reviving Tranmere's fortunes with a new two-and-a-half-year contract.
Moore, who celebrates his 60th birthday next week, has led Rovers to top of League One this season after saving them from relegation last year when he took the reins in March. The Liverpudlian, in his third spell at Prenton Park, was under contract until the end of this campaign but has now been handed a deal until 2015, with assistant John McMahon, goalkeeping coach Dave Timmins and physio Gregg Blundell also getting new terms. "I'm delighted Ronnie and his coaching staff have extended their contracts with the club," chairman Peter Johnson said. "Ronnie did a fantastic job at the end of last season and has done an even better job this season. "It has been a really exciting season so far and hopefully we're halfway towards achieving something very special. "We have seen some fantastic football this season and some great victories over clubs with resources a lot greater than our own." Moore added: "I'm really pleased to have signed the new contract with the club. "We've got a great squad of players here who are all pushing in the right direction. With the same level of effort and determination, plus a bit of luck, hopefully it will be a successful season for us. "I'd like to thank the chairman and the directors for their support as well as all of our fans who have been brilliant to me since I've been back." Rovers were a point above the drop zone in League One when he returned to the club last season but six wins in the final 13 games saw them rise the table and this term they have led the running from the off.
