Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws is cooling the idea of signing a new right-back, despite losing Christian Ribeiro for a month.
The Iron are short on the right side of defence after Ribeiro was ruled out with a hamstring injury, but Laws has decided to keep things as they are for now due to the form of Callum Kennedy and Tom Newey. "There's nothing new to report on bringing in a right-back," he told the club's official website. "Tom Newey and Callum Kennedy will be saying 'don't bother' and you've got to give them credit because they have proved they are more than capable of steadying the ship at the back. "The encouraging sign on Saturday was that it didn't look like we'd weakened the team. That's a really good sign. "Sometimes it's a case of better the devil you know and we know what we're going to get from these lads. "What it does is it means I don't have to rush into making a decision to bring in a replacement. "I'm very aware of the situation and we've got one or two names that we believe we can actually get a hold of if necessary. "But at this moment in time, I'm quite happy with the way things are going." Meanwhile, Laws has confirmed former Iron defender Eddie Nolan is training with the club. The 24-year-old has failed to find a new team since his release in the summer, but Laws has no plans to re-sign him at the current time.
