Bournemouth midfielder Steven Gregory has left the club by mutual consent after 18 months with the Cherries.

The 25-year-old made 30 appearances for the club since his move from AFC Wimbledon in July 2011 but has spent the last three months back on loan with the Dons. His loan deal expired after their 1-0 defeat to Rotherham on Saturday and he returned to the Goldsands Stadium. "Being out of contract at the end of the season and not playing would be no good for him," manager Eddie Howe told the club's official website. "I think the fact he is playing every week while out on loan he'd want to carry that on and continue to play. "From our perspective we have a strong team and a strong squad and we couldn't guarantee him any game time. "We wish Steven Gregory all the best in his career and we hope he goes on to have a long and successful career wherever he goes."
