McSheffrey looking to stay fit

Coventry's Gary McSheffrey hopes his performance in Saturday's 1-0 win at Leyton Orient will mark the end his injury problems.

The fit-again forward, 30, was recalled for only his fourth league start at Brisbane Road and played a hand in David McGoldrick's winning goal before spurning two opportunities to strengthen City's advantage. Ahead of three successive home fixtures, McSheffrey is keen to begin finding some rhythm. "I am really happy with the win and we have showed a bit of steel at the end to get the three points," he told City's official website. "We should have had the game won by half-time really as I have had a couple of opportunities which I should have scored from. "I was quite pleased with my own personal performance and it is great to be fit again and get on to the pitch. It has been very frustrating when I haven't been playing and the season has been very stop-start for me. "I just want to get five or six games now to get fully match fit and really get myself into this season. I want to be in form and firing for the side as much as I can."
