Reid set for Scunthorpe return

Scunthorpe skipper Paul Reid has targeted a return to action for the first time this season at Swindon next Saturday.

Fellow defender David Mirfin was sent off in the 1-1 home draw with Brentford for two bookable offences at the weekend and will sit out a one-game ban, so Reid is hoping to make a timely comeback after breaking a bone in his hand in the summer and then sustaining a groin injury last week when poised to make his first appearance of the season. "We're hopeful Reid will be back for Saturday," manager Alan Knill said after Saturday's draw. "It's not really a concern. I don't think so anyway. "He was supposed to play last week in a friendly, but tweaked his groin on the Tuesday and so we left him out as a precaution. "We had it scanned and it's come back fine. In our minds he's training Monday and will hopefully be involved in a (behind-closed-doors) game on Tuesday." Knill is also hoping striker Karl Hawley is fit to face Swindon after missing the last two matches due to an ankle injury.
