Marc Pugh has warned his Bournemouth team-mates that Eddie Howe will "take no prisoners" as he gets to grips with the club.

Pugh, 25, was the only survivor in the starting line-up from Howe's previous reign on Saturday as the Cherries beat Leyton Orient 2-0 in front of their on-looking returning manager.

"He expects and demands the best. If you aren't performing, he will tell you," Pugh told the Daily Echo. "He doesn't tolerate below-par performances.

"It was good to know they would be coming in. I worked under him before and he is a winner and has brought a lot of success to the club. Hopefully, it will be a case of onwards and upwards for us now he is back. The club has done really well to get him back."

The former Shrewsbury man also said he was in "no rush" to agree a new deal with the club after rejecting a new offer in the summer.

He added: "I want to play in the Championship and, if the club is going to bring success, you never know what might happen. But I just want to concentrate on my football and am in no rush to do anything at the moment."
