Brentford striker Farid El Alagui faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury against Crawley.

The former Falkirk stretcher left the field on a stretcher and scans have since revealed long-term damage. El Alagui, 27, has scored three goals for the Bees this season since making the switch from Scotland this summer. "During Saturday's game against Crawley Town, Farid El Alagui suffered a significant injury to his left knee in a collision with the opposition goalkeeper," Brentford's head of medical, Neil Greig, told the club's official website. "Following diagnostic investigations and consultation with leading orthopaedic experts, Farid will now commence a lengthy period of rehabilitation with the long term aim of returning to full fitness. "Updates on Farid's progress will follow at appropriate intervals."
