Andy Robinson is refusing to let his team-mates get carried away, despite Tranmere sitting pretty at the top of League One.

The 32-year-old has been a major reason for Rovers' early success this season with seven goals to his name, but Robinson knows all too well what it takes to earn promotion, having been a member of Swansea and Leeds sides who progressed to the Championship.

"I won't let the lads get overexcited," Robinson told the Wirral News. "It's a long way to go in the season but we are moving in the right direction as a team and as a club. I think this could be a big season for us. From one to 11, we are not a bad team.

"I've been involved in a few promotions. I always like to take a measure of things after 10 games and we are top of the league after eight. In another couple of games we might know if we have half a chance.

"I'm sure the gaffer won't let anyone get carried away. It is bubbling in our dressing room now and long may it continue. We have a few young players here who want to make a name for themselves with what we are doing on the pitch.

"We are winning games and they will learn from that. It is a team game and at the moment we are top of the tree. I would love to be still there in May."
