Carlisle boss Greg Abbott admitted his side need more fluency following Tuesday's goalless draw with Crewe at Brunton Park in League One.
The Alex dominated for much of the game but failed to punish the hosts while Joe Garner, back at Carlisle on loan from Watford, had their best chance of the game.
"It is a good point. We were in the dressing room and we said that we are not as fluent as we would like to be just right at the minute," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"We are playing a slightly different system without our creative players, we are without a big player up front in Lee Miller, so it is going to be a little bit more difficult.
"You just get a bit frustrated but we all want to be better and we want to play better football, but we have got to get through this period picking up points as we go along.
"We have tried to put the foot on the gas but we haven't found that fluency yet and we might have to just start looking at a different style of play and find another way of doing it."
