Sky Sports understands Bournemouth are eyeing a move to bring Bristol City striker Brett Pitman back to the club.
Pitman began his career at Bournemouth before making the move to Bristol City in the summer of 2010.
Bristol City have bolstered their attacking options this month with the signings of Sam Baldock and Steve Davies and they could be willing to let Pitman move on.
Burnley are thought to be keen on landing Pitman as they look to bring in a new forward, but Bournemouth are hoping to persuade the 24-year-old to return to the South Coast.
Bournemouth have failed to win any of their three opening League One games and they see Pitman as someone who could boost their promotion bid.
