Railwaymen's hopes go West

Crewe assistant Neil Baker has told Alex's fans not to expect too much too soon from promising winger Michael West.

The 21-year-old made the step-up from semi-professional football during the summer, arriving at Gresty Road from non-league side Ebbsfleet. Baker is quick to point out that playing full-time will take some getting used to for the youngster. "Michael will probably need a bit more time to settle in because he has come from non-league football and is not used to full-time football," Baker told Crewe's official website. "We have to fit him into our system and become more of a team player than he was probably used to at Ebbsfleet, where he was more of an individual. "He has shown signs of his ability, but we will be patient with him because we know where he has come from and what he is used to. "We are pleased to have him and he will be an asset for us."
