Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore is thrilled at the prospect of facing Premier League side Everton next week.
Rovers face Everton in the final of the Liverpool Senior Cup on Tuesday and were initially expecting to face a second-string outfit.
However, Everton's decision to withdraw from the Java Cup could see David Moyes send some of his more established names to Prenton Park.
Moore told the Liverpool Daily Post: "I think there's every chance we could be playing an Everton side with first-team strength next Tuesday and that's going to be great for the crowd and great for our lads to test themselves against Premier League players.
"I don't want to jump ahead of myself. It is down to David Moyes who he plays but I would certainly expect some first-team players to be involved against us."
The match will see Rovers' new captain James Wallace face his old team for the first time since being released by Everton at the end of last season.
