Swindon continued their pre-season preparations with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Weston-super-Mare on Wednesday evening.

Town almost fell behind in the first minute when Paul Caddis blocked Dayle Grubb's effort on the line, but the newly-promoted League One side soon went ahead when Matt Ritchie scored from the edge of the area. Andy Williams doubled the lead after 11 minutes, James Collins hit Swindon's third just after the half-hour mark and Ritchie added a fourth two minutes before half-time. Grubb pulled goal back for the hosts after the break but Raffa De Vita restored the four-goal cushion midway through the second period and Paul Benson completed the scoring late on. "It is not about the victory, but what I saw in the first half I am very pleased with," manager Paolo Di Canio told Town's official website. "The new lads looked more fluid and they are looking better. There was quality in the plan and we are at a different level to last year. "We are here to work and there was a big difference in terms of the first and second-half displays. That has given me much information going into the next friendly and I will treat the next one like it is a league game."
