Tranmere have sealed a one-year deal after signing defender Paul Black, who has expressed his delight at joining the League One club.
The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Oldham and played 77 times for the Boundary Park club before his release at the end of last season.
Black will fill the void created at left-back by the departure of Rovers' player of the season David Buchanan to Preston.
"I'm really pleased that Paul has joined up," said Rovers boss Ronnie Moore on his club's official website. "He's a player we've had our eye on for a while and there will be strong competition between him and Zoom (Zoumana Bakayogo) for the left-back spot.
"He's quick, likes to get forward and is good on the ball. He's still young but he's got plenty of experience and is a good addition to the squad."
Black is Moore's fifth summer signing, following the arrivals of Ben Burgess, Danny Harrison, Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and James Wallace.
