Crewe boss Steve Davis has officially declared his interest in Swindon winger Billy Bodin.
Bodin had a successful loan spell at Gresty Road last season and Alex have been in touch with the Robins about a permanent deal for the Wales Under-21 international.
"We've made contact with the chief executive at Swindon and declared an interest in Billy," Davis told the club's official website. "There will be other clubs interested as well and of course there will be a compensation fee with that as well.
"If we can come to some agreement over that then we would like to do something, if we are far away on that then we would move on and look elsewhere.
"We do have one or two more options as well to consider, but we'll speak to Swindon to see what sort of compensation fee they are looking for and will take it from there."
Meanwhile, Davis has also confirmed that Crewe are close to signing an unnamed central defender and that talks with the player's club are at an advanced stage.
