Hoyle: Promotion is everything

Chairman Dean Hoyle is desperate for Huddersfield to go one better than last season and claim glory in the League One play-off final.

The Terriers booked their place in an all-Yorkshire final with Sheffield United at Wembley on May 26 after a 3-2 aggregate win over MK Dons in the semi-final.

They lost last night's second leg 2-1, but, after Jordan Rhodes' 40th goal of the season put them 3-0 up on aggregate after 17 minutes, there was no way back for the Dons.

Town were beaten 3-0 by Peterborough in last season's final at Old Trafford and Hoyle hopes go all out to avoid a repeat of that disappointment.

"There is everything to play for now, a big Yorkshire derby. It will be great," Hoyle said. "We are going into it with intent but we are the underdogs.

"It is everything to go one better than last year but I think the guys will take everything from that loss into the game and remember how hurtful it was to lose. Promotion is everything. Sheffield United will want promotion like us, but we will do everything to make sure it is us that goes up."
