Stevenage boss Gary Smith felt his side were worthy of all three points against Preston.
The game finished 1-1 after Boro captain Mark Roberts rescued a point for his side in the fourth minute of injury time after Iain Hume's strike looked to have earned North End the win.
"I thought we deserved more than what we got with our late goal because we showed a fantastic attitude throughout. Competitively, we looked the more dominant and more physically capable for good periods in that first half," said Smith. "We had the territorial advantage, and we moved the ball well and on the balance of chances in that first period, I think you've got to score when you've got that momentum in the game."
Preston coach Dino Maamria was involved in an altercation with Smith in the second half and was sent from the dugout.
Smith said of the spat: "Graham's always got plenty to say - most of it's a load of old toffee - but when you're on the line out there there's a load of emotions that fly either way.
"It happens because we all want to be out there kicking the ball and we're just frustrated because our time is over. It was nothing out of the ordinary and I'm sure Graham wanted to win as much coming back here as I did to keep our top six push going."
