Wright: Too late for Spireites

Chesterfield assistant boss Tommy Wright admitted his side left it too late to escape relegation after Monday's thumping 4-0 win over Wycombe.

But after goals from Craig Westcarr, Franck Moussa, Alex Mendy and Jordan Bowery at the B2net Stadium, Wright promised if the Spireites do get relegated from League One, they will go down fighting. Wright said: "We want to end the season on a positive note and keep performances like that going. "I think the pressure was off and sometimes it's easier to play, but you still have to give credit to the players for the way they performed against Wycombe, who have been on a good run. "You have to be honest, it's probably too far to catch up, but as I said we want to end the season on a positive note and give the fans some feeling that we can bounce back. I think they know and have faith in us that we can get back up there. "It's probably too little too late, but the players still have to go out and perform and we have to be positive now and look to next season and try and get as many good performances as we can."
