Brentford coach Alan Kernaghan insisted a solid defensive display was behind the 2-0 win over Exeter.
Teenage striker Saido Berahino, on loan with the Bees from West Brom, stole the headlines with both goals. But former Manchester City defender Kernaghan said: "We had a lot to ponder over which strikers to go with because we have some good ones at this club. "Saido got the nod and he did well, but this was win built on a strong defensive performance as shown by another clean sheet."
