John Sheridan said he felt hard done by as Chesterfield went down 1-0 at Notts County after putting in good second half performance.
The Magpies left it late to snatch the victory, with Jonathan Forte scoring the winner in the 80th minute.
The goal was a momentary lapse in concentration for the Spireites, who improved after a quiet first half and could have snatched a point with several half-chances in the second period.
Sheridan said: "We weren't at it first half, but I thought we improved second half.
"We could have got something out of it if we'd taken one of our chances - and their keeper has made some good saves.
"I think we might have deserved a point."
