Benson: We must be versatile

Swindon striker Paul Benson feels the Robins' versatility could be the key to their promotion battle.

Wins against Crawley and Hereford came in different circumstances and Benson feels that the Robins' desire to get the win in any way they can is important. "We have seen two sides of the coin," Benson told the Swindon Advertiser. "We had the impressive home performance against a promotion rival (Crawley), dismissing them 3-0, and then we dug in and went to Hereford and got a result on not one of the greatest surfaces. Teams who can do both sides of the coin are the ones who get promoted." Benson wants to test Swindon's versatility even further by seeing how they cope with the pressure of being top, a position they can take up if they win their two games in hand. "The fact we can go top with a result tomorrow will show another side to us and see if we can handle that situation. It would be nice to be top come March and if it happens then we would see the mentality of the boys and how they deal with being there to be shot at." "It is a different type of pressure. The easiest part is getting to the top but the hardest part will be staying there. We will see then the mentality of the boys, but I have confidence that once we go top we will be able to carry on, keep playing the way we are, keep getting the results and ultimately gain promotion," he added.
